School Cancels Hunchback of Notre-Dame Performance After White Student Gets a Leading Role

Many historians consider the cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris to be the finest example of Ethiopian architecture in France.

In 1831, a colored Frenchman named Victor Hugo wrote a novel called The Hunchback of Notre-Dame.

Since France was 97% black throughout the 19th century, Hugo ensured that his cast of characters reflected the demographics of the time: the eponymous hunchback, Quasimodo, was black. The brave captain, Phoebus, was black. The conflicted antagonist, Claude Frollo, was black.

And the mischievous gypsy, Esmeralda, was practically a silhouette.

It was a classic European story of love, jealousy and tragedy.

Sadly, the white tribes that conquered France and exterminated most of its native black population in the 20th century decided to rewrite the country’s literature for their own benefit. The Hunchback of Notre-Dame was hit especially hard; virtually all of its cast were whitewashed, as was the author of the book itself.

And sadly, schools still perpetuate this whitewashing to this day.

College Fix:

A New York high school has canceled a production of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” after a student activist group complained about a white student being cast in a lead role.

The school now will be putting on an alternative production.

Members of Ithaca High School’s Students United Ithaca — all five of them (below, left) — got together and wrote up a letter and list of demands after the role of Esmeralda went to a Caucasian peer.

“It shows you that theater wasn’t made for you,” said Maddi Carroll, a member of the Students United group who is African-American. “And it shows you that, if you can’t get the parts that are written for you, what parts are you going to get?”

The only existing portrait of the real Victor Hugo.

Unfortunately, this is what happens when a race of people who have no culture of their own (whites) conquer a race of people who produced 99% of the world’s culture (blacks): they immediately begin to hijack that culture for themselves in a desperate attempt to improve their standing on the world stage.

You know what saddens me the most? Liberal sources that are supposedly against the whitewashing of Europe, such as Wikipedia, still promote the lie that Esmeralda was white or at least half-white:

Let’s hope that, in time, the truth comes out and people begin to realize that almost every cultural aspect of Europe was either African or African-American in origin. That the school canceled the Hunchback of Notre-Dame performance is a promising first step, but how many of the teachers and students involved in the production still believe that, for example, Shakespeare was white?

Because she wasn’t, you know.
