This fake news story is fake news.
Basically, the entire narrative that Russia did Wikileaks is now becoming completely unsustainable. We’ll have more on this later today, but Crowdstrike – the sole source of the claim, the intelligence community took the word of this one DNC-hired firm as fact in determining that Russia did it – is wobbling severely.
So, this has to go in another direction.
And even more absurd direction.

Gearing up to start hearings in the probe of alleged Russian interference in the US presidential election, the Senate Intelligence Committee leaders said they would look at “propaganda” and “fake news” stories that supposedly hurt Hillary Clinton.
Though it has been provided with thousands of pages of documents already, the committee has requested raw intelligence from the CIA, NSA, FBI and the Director of National Intelligence, to see what was left on the “cutting room floor” when the agencies compiled the joint intelligence report presented in January.
While chairman Sen. Richard Burr (R-North Carolina) said the committee would follow the intelligence wherever it leads, the ranking Democrat, Sen. Mark Warner (D-Virginia), said that an “outside foreign adversary effectively sought to hijack” the US presidential election, using method that would “send a chill through anyone who believes in the democratic process.”
Warner also brought up “reports” that Russian bots hijacked computers and planted fake news in key states like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan – where Republican candidate Donald Trump won by slim margins – and that somehow top searches for “election hacking” immediately before and after the election featured “Russian propaganda – RT News and Sputnik” in the top search results.

What could that sentence possibly even mean?
I can’t figure it.
Did they insert the news into their Google and Yahoo feeds? Or did they hack their computers and make the fake news just pop-up in browsers?
What is being communicated here?
Basically, it’s a nonsense claim of illegality to give credit to an attack on people for doing something totally legal. You can compare it to the Jewish claim that “anti-Semites” are prank calling them with bomb threats to cover for the fact that they’re trying to shut down criticism of them on the internet.
Because look here: Russia is allowed to promote news on the internet. They are even allowed to promote fake news on the internet. What’s more, they are allowed to pay Americans to promote fake news for them. That would be totally, 100% legal.
This is just going in more and more absurd directions, these attacks on Trump and Russia.
It has become cartoonish.
For my part, I can state, under penalty of perjury, that I have never received any money from the Russia government to shill for them with REAL NEWS (or fake for that matter).
I can also state, under penalty of perjury, that if they offered me money I would take it.
