Ever seen a more punchable face? This guy is in charge of “negotiating” with Russia.
What do you do when you’re in charge of a world superpower, and you’re in the middle of a volatile situation which could potentially lead to a war that will annihilate all civilization?
You carefully weight all diplomatic options, and keep in close contact with all parties to prevent misunderstandings which would set off the powder keg.
But what if you actually want to destroy everything? For the lulz? Or maybe after a temper tantrum?
Then, you do stuff like this, I guess.
The US has formally suspended its bilateral channels with Russia over the continued Russian aerial bombardment of Syria’s largest city, Aleppo, State Department spokesman John Kirby confirmed in a statement released Monday.
“This was not a decision that was taken lightly,” the statement said.
Insider sources have confided that one strategist thought so hard about this, his head literally exploded. No joke.
“The US spared no effort in negotiating and attempting to implement an arrangement with Russia aimed at reducing the violence, providing unhindered humanitarian access, and degrading terrorist organizations operating in Syria.
Did you propose ceasing to fund and arm the terrorists?
Did you propose withdrawing from your illegal operations in Syria?
How about recognizing the legitimacy of the elected Syrian government, and abandoning your relentless attempts to have it overthrown by foreign “rebels?”
No? Nothing? Mmhh.
“Unfortunately, Russia failed to live up to its own commitments,” the statement continued. “Including its obligations under international humanitarian law and UNSCR 2254.”
UNSCR 2254 is the UN Security Council Resolution adopted in December 2015 calling for a cease-fire and political settlement in Syria.
Did the terrorists lay down their arms and disband?
No they didn’t.
Therefore, the resolution is completely meaningless, and even bringing it up is very disingenuous.
We must make peace with these gentlemen. Lay down your arms first. I’m sure they’ll follow.
This is very simple. Russia is helping the legitimate government of Syrian in fighting foreign terrorists. America is giving aid and shelter to those terrorists.
There’s no negotiations to be had here. It’s just a game of chicken.
