Diversity Macht Frei

Yesterday, Spain commemorated the 10th anniversary of the jihad bombings on the Madrid train system. A Catholic service, attended by the Spanish royal family and various dignitaries, was held in Almudena. Now Muslims and leftists are complaining about this.
“Anachronous”, “offensive” and “discriminatory”. This is how representatives of minority faiths and secular associations described the funeral held in memory of the victims of 11M [the Madrid train bombings] in Almudena cathedral.
These associations criticised the fact that the principal act of homage – attended by the king and queen, the princess of the Asturias and the president of the government, Mariano Rajoy – for the 192 people who died in the attacks was a Catholic mass which did not bring together the sensibility of the different religions, when a large group of those who died belonged to other faiths, such as the Orthodox or Muslim faiths.
…The president of the Federación Española de Entidades Religiosas Islámicas (Feeri) [Spanish Federation of Islamic Religious Entities], Mounir Benjelloun, also felt “discriminated” against by the format used and indicated his disagreement because “only the Catholic victims are being paid homage to according to their own rites”. “We’ve been showing our discontent for some time, but they don’t pay attention to us. I think they ought to have done a ceremony with all the religions or, if not, a civil act. Muslims also suffered from terrorism and deserve to be respected,” declared Benjelloun.
