According to the investigation, the victim’s stepsons were driving north on N. Academy Boulevard from Highway 85/87 when they said another driver began following them closely and swerving toward them in an aggressive manner. That driver also reportedly cut them off before breaking sharply.
The stepsons called their stepfather for help while driving toward Gahart Drive, which is about 5 miles up the road. The two stopped their car in the parking lot while their stepfather, the victim, had arrived.
The victim then approached the suspect’s vehicle, who was also in the lot. Police say the suspect then got out with a knife and stabbed the stepfather several times. He then also reportedly attacked the stepsons, causing minor injuries to both of them.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man standing 5 feet and 8 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds. He was driving a gray Hyundai hatchback with a rear window that had been broken out.
