Well, well.
It looks like Spotify is on the backfoot.
They were acting like they were going to hold the line when it was just Crazy Horse trying to manipulate them – but then a real power joined the fight.
BREAKING: Nickelback threatens to release new album unless Spotify removes Joe Rogan.

I don’t know if I should have made that joke.
Nickelback jokes are kind of cringe.
And yet, I had a sensible chuckle.
Spotify is adding a message that will direct listeners to correct Covid-19 information as controversy over misinformation shared on Joe Rogan’s podcast continues to grow, with the streamer losing billions in market value and more musicians withdrawing their music.
On Sunday, the CEO of Spotify, Daniel Ek, released an official statement setting out the streaming platform’s plan to tackle misinformation. New content advisories will direct listeners of any podcast that discusses coronavirus to a dedicated website that “provides easy access to data-driven facts, up-to-date information as shared by scientists, physicians, academics and public health authorities around the world, as well as links to trusted sources”.
Ek is Swedish and has bro physiognomy.
But it’s a tech company with all of these woman employees.
And the media does have the power to destroy it.
This isn’t about Neil Young.
Spotify’s rules for its creators have also been made public for the first time, with users told they cannot publish “content that promotes dangerous false or dangerous deceptive medical information that may cause offline harm or poses a direct threat to public health”.
Examples include calling Covid “a hoax or not real” or “encouraging people to purposely get infected with Covid-19 in order to build immunity to it”. Users who break the rule could see their content removed from the platform and repeat offenders could be suspended or banned.
But Joe Rogan has already broken that rule.
Lord Fauci himself has repeatedly called out Rogan by name, saying he is causing harm.
And Joe has not indicated that he’s going to stop doing it.
Nor have his podcasts questioning the official narrative of the virus – which go all the way back to 2020, when he had on Elon Musk to use all my talking points – been removed.
“You’ve had a lot of questions over the last few days about our platform policies and the lines we have drawn between what is acceptable and what is not. We have had rules in place for many years but admittedly, we haven’t been transparent around the policies that guide our content more broadly,” Ek’s statement said.
Ek wrote that the content advisories will roll out “around the world in the coming days.”
“To our knowledge, this content advisory is the first of its kind by a major podcast platform,” he added.
…
As of Sunday, Spotify had lost more than US$2bn (£1.5bn) in market value and removed more than 20,000 episodes of podcasts that were related to Covid-19, in accordance with its “detailed content policies”.
Okay, so they’re deleting someone’s podcasts.
I had no idea people even used Spotify for podcasting, other than Rogan. But okay.
No one was complaining about these 20,000 alleged podcasts. They were demanding Joe Rogan be banned.
They’re not even calling for Rogan to apologize or retract or whatever – they want him banned.
That is the demand. Joe Rogan is the most listened to news media figure in the world – by a lot. He has five times the viewership/listenership of Tucker Carlson, who is number two – at least in America. I dunno, maybe there is someone in India who gets more views than Tucker, but they wouldn’t be getting more views/listens than Joe. (China, while also a huge country, has a more diverse media landscape and doesn’t really have “superstar” media personalities. Which is kind of ironic, I guess. They also spend a lot more time engaging with normal people on social media than following big celebrities. Their social media is obviously much less censored than America’s, so that’s probably a part of it.)
It’s really amazing how corrupt and against the population of the country the leadership of America is.
Virtually every single voice in the country that isn’t already banned, including the alleged President of the United States, Jeff Brandon, and Lord Fauci, the master of the universe, are calling for the two most popular voices to be silenced.
The whole censorship program is of course headquartered and managed at CNN.
Just try to imagine a situation where the president of a country tells you you have to stop listening to the most popular media and start listening to the least popular media.
It’s mind-numbing.
Especially considering the fact that Jeff Brandon is the single most popularly elected head of state in the history of the world, with 81 million votes.
