Julian Assange had been charged with RAPE in Sweden because a woman said that he had sex with her with a condom, and then the next morning had sex with her without a condom, and somehow implied that he was wearing a condom the second time.
This is a crime in Sweden.
And in Sweden, being a criminal is against the law.
Prosecutors in Sweden on Monday reopened a rape case against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, a month after he was forcibly removed from the Ecuadorian Embassy in London and after a U.S. extradition request over computer hacking charges.
A sexual assault investigation into Assange was dropped two years ago because prosecutors were not able to continue their case while he was holed up in the embassy. It was reopened at the request of one of the alleged victims.
Sweden also renewed an extradition request for Assange, raising a competing claim to the U.S.’s. Legal experts says it’s not clear which claim will take priority.
Anand Doobay, a London-based lawyer who specializes in extradition law, said the decision will be decided in court and could take months if not years and may ultimately reside with Britain’s secretary of state.
One of the factors that would be considered is if the U.S.’s request is politically motivated and whether Assange would face the death penalty or be charged with additional crimes related to his publication of U.S. military and diplomatic secrets.
The stolen material, according to U.S. Justice Department prosecutors, includes 90,000 war reports related to Afghanistan, 400,000 from the Iraq War, 800 Guantanamo Bay detainee assessments and 250,000 State Department cables.
Assange maintains it was in the public interest to publish them because they reveal the behavior of the U.S. government and how it operates in foreign military adventures.
I’ve said it fifty times already: Assange is better off getting extradited to Sweden and just doing the time on the fake rape charges. I don’t think they will even sentence him to jail, but even if they do, it can’t be for more than a couple of months.
Sweden is a progressive country that won’t extradite him to the US. After his rape sentence, they will almost have to let him go to Russia.
In fact, I’m surprised they’re even requesting him, since I don’t think they want to deal with the US demanding him and their own people saying he should be allowed to leave. It makes it slightly easier for the British, and that’s it.
I don’t know, man.
This whole Assange situation is when it should have become painfully obvious to even the dullest Trump supporter that he is no longer in charge, and that the entire show is being run by Kushner and his neocon Jews.
Because how the hell is Trump going to go out of his way to punish his own supporters who aren’t even in the country? It would have been just as easy for Trump to do nothing about Assange, and to tell Ecuador to leave him in the embassy and pass it off to whoever comes after him. There was literally zero reason for him to do anything. There isn’t even a theoretical benefit to it.
It only makes sense if Trump isn’t running his own government, at all.
