Never under any circumstances allow a Black near your daughter.
A 19-year-old Sodus man killed his former girlfriend, a 17-year-old Sodus Jr./Sr. High School senior, when she rebuffed his advances to rekindle a romance, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
David Knight-Hollis, 19, of Sodus was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Alyssa K. Taft, 17, of Sodus. The two had previously dated, but were not in a relationship at the time of her death, said Wayne County’s Acting District Attorney Christopher Bokelman.
Sheriff Barry Virts said Friday that it appeared Knight-Hollis had lured Taft to his residence, a double-wide trailer at Bay Village Mobile Home Community, 6009 Boyd Road, Sodus, around 3 p.m. Thursday in an attempt to rekindle a romantic relationship, which ended over the summer.
When Taft refused his advances, Virts said, Knight-Hollis grabbed a knife and blocked Taft from leaving his residence.
“He stabbed her in the ribs and cut her throat to stop her from screaming,” Virts said. “She went there thinking she would have money paid back that was owed. Her refusal was unacceptable to him.”
Taft’s mother called 911 around 11:30 p.m. Thursday to report that Taft was missing. Around 12:20 a.m., deputies responded to the trailer park on Boyd Road, where they noticed drops of blood on the front steps of Knight-Hollis’ residence.
Minutes later, a man called 911 telling police that he “just killed a girl named Alyssa.”
Then deputies apprehended Knight-Hollis as he was “coming from a wooded area behind the house,” Virts said.
Shortly thereafter deputies found Taft’s body.
