A California barber who slashed a customer’s throat with a straight razor was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Daniel Roberto Flores, 22, who was arrested and pleaded guilty to attempted murder for the October 2014 incident, was sentenced in court on Thursday.
Victim Timothy Vaughn, 33, a U.S. Navy petty officer who worked as a medic, said he is not happy that Flores will back in society one day after he serves his time, according to Fox 5.
Vaughn received two gashes on his neck and suffered from severe bleeding during a visit to Vic’s Barbershop in Imperial Beach last year.
At the time of the incident, the Navy officer was sat in the chair as Flores insisted on shaving his beard with a straight razor. The pair were the only two present in the barbershop.
Vaughn cooperated and tilted his head back which is when Flores said ‘I could cut your throat’ before leaving the gashes across his throat, according to the San Diego Reader.
Flores then ran away from the shop, leaving Vaughn bleeding out on the floor.
‘I felt this incredible pain,’ Vaughn said in court on June 11. ‘There was so much blood. “Where is everyone?” I put pressure on it. It hurt so much. I felt this huge hole. “Somebody help me.” There’s blood all over my shirt, all over the floor. “Somebody please help me.” I guess my training kicked in.’
