Sad, Pedro? Well, don’t worry, some judge is sure to overturn this.
All these tough measures really make you feel good, don’t they? Orders are being signed left and right to ban sanctuary cities, crack down on immigrants, ban Moslems, and so on.
Really good feelings there.
Now we just need to work on the next part, which is avoiding having these orders overturned the next day by some random Obama-Appointed judge. Because really, as much as I love these feelings, none of it amounts to anything unless something actually gets done.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Sunday night signed what he calls a ban on so-called “sanctuary cities” that allows police to ask about a person’s immigration status and threatens sheriffs with jail if they don’t cooperate with federal authorities. He did so over intense opposition from immigrant-rights groups and Democrats, who say the law echoes Arizona’s immigration crackdown in 2010 that prompted national controversy and lawsuits.
If they make it right? Deport them anyway.
Good stuff. No, really.
But.
Didn’t the actual president of the actual federal government sign an executive order similar to this last month? Didn’t that get challenged immediately and put on hold?
How is this any different?
What we need is an executive order for arresting public officials who undermine national security in order to protect their precious illegal aliens.
Abbott, a Republican in his first term, took the unusual step of signing the bill on Facebook with no public notice in advance. He said Texas residents expect lawmakers to “keep us safe” and said similar laws have already been tested in federal court, where opponents have said the bill likely will be immediately challenged.
Yeah. My bets are on this being contested within the first 24 hours.
“Let’s face it, the reason why so many people come to America is because we are a nation of laws and Texas is doing its part to keep it that way,” Abbott said. His spokesman, John Wittman, later said they chose to sign the bill on a Facebook livestream because that’s “where most people are getting their news nowadays.”
FAKE NEWS BTFO!!!
That’s probably the greatest thing about this. The mainstream media is really under assault at this point – the cat is out of the bag and politicians have learned that they can bypass the MSM easily.
The bill cleared a final hurdle this week in the Republican-controlled Legislature over objections from Democrats and immigrant rights supporters who’ve packed the Texas Capitol. They call it a “show-me-your-papers” measure that will be used to discriminate against Latinos.
God, I sure hope so.
Once the Beaners feel sufficiently oppressed, they might just stay home.
