Wiesenthal had a cantankerous personality that brought him into conflict with almost everyone else he had dealings with, including others Jews; especially Jews who, like him, styled themselves “Nazi Hunters”. Sheer vanity seems to be a large part of the explanation for these disputes. But the other “Nazi hunters” also seem, at some point, to have sensed Wiesenthal’s problematical relationship with the truth.

It was Wiesenthal’s conflicts with other Jews that led to much of the most damaging information about him coming to light. Here is one example of that from the “Nazi hunter” Tuvia Friedman.

Wiesenthal not only claimed to have provided information that led to the capture of Eichmann. He insisted he had participated directly in the capture, personally grabbing hold of Eichmann and bundling him into a car. This was complete nonsense. Wiesenthal wasn’t even on the same continent.
