Prime Minister Theresa May has called off Tuesday’s crucial vote on her Brexit deal so she can go back to Brussels and ask for changes to it.
As it stands the deal “would be rejected by a significant margin” if MPs voted on it, she admitted.
But she said she was confident of getting “reassurances” from the EU on the Northern Ireland border plan.
But European Council President Donald Tusk said the remaining 27 EU countries would not “renegotiate” the deal.
This morning, Jean-Claude Juncker, the unelected supreme leader of the EU, said that there would be no renegotiation.
Jean-Claude Juncker, the European commission president, has said that there is “no room whatsoever for renegotiation”. Addressing the European parliament this morning, he said:
I will see Mrs May this evening and I have to say here in the parliament, as I did say before in this Parliament, the deal we have achieved is the best deal possible – it is the only deal possible …
There is no room whatsoever for renegotiation, but of course there is room if used intelligently, there is room enough to give further clarifications and further interpretations without opening the withdrawal agreement.
This will not happen: everyone has to note that the withdrawal agreement will not be reopened.
So, there you have it.
Who knows what the plan is here. The EU wants Britain to be forced back into the Union, and they’re pressing as hard as they can on that. But May can’t simply fail to do Brexit after trying all this time. If the UK is going to cancel Brexit, they’re going to have to bring in a new Prime Minister to lead that operation.
Poor Theresa.
What a horrible, disgusting, failed human being. She forwent having children in order to be a political figure, now she will go down as one of the worst politicians in the history of the Western world, and will be held up with that dog-faced wench Merkel in schools as “the reason we don’t allow women to hold office or even vote.”
