Three children are in critical condition after police say their car was hit by a drunk driver who ran a red light in Pontiac.
The driver of the vehicle that was hit — a 23 year-old woman — is in serious condition and her 3-year-old daughter is on life support.
Her 16 year-old brother and his 2-year old son were also critically injured. This happened on Woodward at South Boulevard over the weekend.
Deputies say the suspected drunk driver, Leshia Barnes, had a blood alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit.
Barnes is charged with three counts of driving drunk and causing serious injury. Each count is punishable by up to five years in prison.
“Don’t mix alcohol or any kind of substance and get behind the wheel,” said Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard. “All you do is put yourself and innocent people at risk.”
