The former head of the UK military has come out and said that air strikes will never be enough to take down ISIS. Before you say “oh, that must be good old Captain Obvious,” hear his solution to the ISIS problem: ground invasion.
General Lord Richards, who stepped down as chief last year, has claimed that decision of Western governments to rule out a ground invasion is wrong-headed.
He literally said that we need to do the same thing we did to Saddam in 2003. Seriously.
“The only way to defeat Isis (ISIS) is to take back land they are occupying which means a conventional military operation,” he told British weekly.
Richards criticized U.S.-led air strikes, explaining that “ultimately you need a land army to achieve the objectives we’ve set ourselves — all air will do is destroy elements of Isis, it won’t achieve our strategic goal.”
While he said he understands that there is “political resistance” to sending boots on the ground he maintained that the “the only way to do it effectively is to use western armies.”
Richards’ comments come after the Royal Air Force (RAF) carried out the first British combat mission in Iraq since a majority vote in parliament on Friday authorized air strikes against ISIS targets.
However, after Two RAF Tornado warplanes carried out a seven-hour reconnaissance over northern Iraq on Saturday, no targets were identified.
This failure to identify targets may be attributed to ISIS’ newly-applied tactics to minimize its exposure to aerial attacks, the Sunday Times reported..
So, here’s the deal: we invaded Iraq and killed Saddam based on intelligence that is now admitted to have been falsified. This created a chaos scenario. We then funded terrorists in Syria to try and take out Assad. These terrorists used the money and weapons we sent them to invade the chaotic Iraq and swifty conquer much of it. Now, we are supposed to invade these terrorists who we both created the demand for and directly funded in order to stop them from using immigrants that we invited into our countries to carry-out terrorist attacks for them.
Does that pretty well sum it up?
How is it possible that anyone is still going along with this madness?
Clearly though, a ground invasion is the plan, and they are going to keep pushing for it. After ISIS successfully carries out a couple attacks in some Western country(s) – or after the Jews do so and blame ISIS – it will be much easier for them to get the people to go along with it.
