The jury trial for a man accused of gunning down two people at south Tulsa Quiktrip is underway.
Nineteen-year-old Jermaine Jackson is accused of shooting and killing 18-year-old Krisjan Thorsson and 37-year-old John White Sept. 8, 2012.
Wednesday morning, prosecutors delivered opening statements, describing the night it happened.
Assistant District Attorney Julie Doss stated Thorsson and White were friends because White was Thorsson’s mother’s boyfriend.
Thorsson’s mother, Johanna Pena, was the first witness to take the stand. She told the court she was with her son and White that evening. She said early the next morning around 1 a.m. White went to QuikTrip for her, taking Thorsson with him.
According to the prosecutor, there was some type of altercation along the way to QuikTrip and the defendant, Jackson, followed them to the store.
Once there, prosecutors say Jackson approached the car as White and Thorrson were leaving. Jackson allegedly opened fire, emptying his entire gun into the vehicle.
Also, on the stand Wednesday was the clerk working at QuikTrip that night. He testified that White was a regular customer, always smiling and friendly, and he witnessed the shooting.
Prosecutors played surveillance video to the jury.
During the testimony, Jackson cried openly, tears streaming down his face.
