Shadrach Peeler.
Look at that honest, dependable face.
Who could have predicted that this man o’ color would go on an unhinged crime spree, murdering both his THOT and a lovable neighborhood gook?
WLKY:
An Elizabethtown man has been charged in connection with a double homicide.
Shadrach Peeler, 35, was booked into the Hardin County Detention Center on Friday afternoon. He is charged with two counts of murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, tampering with physical evidence and resisting arrest.
His bail was set at $2 million.
Elizabethtown police officers were first alerted to the shootings around 11:40 p.m. on Thursday. They responded to the 200 block of Warfield Street, where a woman was found dead between two homes. She was identified as Cherie Turner, 34, of Elizabethtown.
Shortly after the first 911 call, a second call was placed, advising officers of a second shooting scene at the T Mart gas station on North Miles Street. Officers later determined three people were shot there. A man was found dead inside. He was identified as Subash Ghale, 40, of Elizabethtown. Another man was found wounded. A woman was shot outside the gas station and was able to drive away to call for help.
Officer John Thomas told WLKY that the two shootings are believed to be connected and that investigators think Peeler was the lone gunman.
“I don’t know what he’s told detectives at this point,” Thomas said. “I know that they questioned him at length, but I’m not sure, at this point, what he has said about it.”
Thomas said Peeler and the female victim lived together on Warfield Street. Officers are investigating to determine if Peeler had any connection to the gas station.
