I don’t know what Trump is doing on the international stage at the moment. I think he likes to give off a lot of steam and make lots of bizarres statements to get the media distracted and chattering while he makes his move. But perhaps I am just connecting the dots after the fact. In all honesty, I don’t get what he’s doing anymore.
For the most part, I just shrug and assume that it’ll work out for him in the end, because for the most part, his instincts are solid and the American people are behind him and want to believe in his MAGA policy.
But this struck me as a very bad move:
RT:
Trump’s urge to reassure the US media of his “toughness” forced him back to the podium at the end of the joint conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Florida on Wednesday.
“There has been nobody tougher on Russia than President Donald Trump,” the US leader said. “With the media, no matter what I did, it is never tough enough, because that is their narrative. But Russia will tell you there has been nobody tougher than Donald Trump … We will do sanctions as soon as they very much deserve it…” Trump added.
To further emphasize his arduous relations with Moscow, Trump reiterated unsubstantiated claims about deadly clashes between Russian and US troops in Syria. “We had a very, very severe… fight in Syria recently, a month ago, with our troops and Russian troops. It is very sad but many people died in that fight. There has been nobody tougher than me,” the billionaire president said, without providing further details.
I assume that Trump is referring to what happened to the Russian “Wagner” mercenary outfit operating in Syria.
Little is known about Wagner by the English-speaking media. I assume it’s a Russian “Blackwater” equivalent.
BBC:
One shadowy group in particular, called Wagner PMC (Private Military Company), hit the headlines because of a clash on 7 February that resulted in dozens of Russian casualties.
The toll of dead and wounded is disputed, but it is still not clear why Russian irregulars attacked a base held by Kurdish anti-Assad forces and where US advisers were present. US forces retaliated with air strikes.
What is known about Wagner?
In June 2017 the US Treasury added Wagner PMC to a long list of Russian individuals and entities subject to sanctions because of their involvement in the Ukraine conflict.
The PMC “has recruited and sent soldiers to fight alongside separatists in eastern Ukraine”, the US Treasury said.
The US also identified Dmitry Utkin as Wagner’s “founder and leader” and placed him on the list.
Russian media reports, quoting anonymous military sources, reveal that Mr Utkin earlier served in a special forces brigade of Russian military intelligence, the GRU. Then in 2013 he went to Syria with a group of fighters recruited by a company called “Slav Corps”, reports say.
I also recall the Russian media crowing about how they got payback soon after when they bombed a rebel group that previously they had avoided because they know that there were American advisors embedded with it and killed all the Americans.
This is Fourth Generation Warfare, folks. Countries are at war with each other, but officially they are both committed to fighting terrorism and making the world a better place or something.
Also, it seems that the Russians are starting to arm pro-government Syrian partisans that are starting to take the fight to the American soldiers deployed in Syria.
There are fifteen dead American soldiers from this recent effort so far.
All of this is to say that the US is basically in a low-intensity war with Russia at this point. And Trump seems to be fanning the flames of this conflict, for whatever reason. You can say that he’s doing this to get the Jews, Deep State and the Liberals off his back at home…but we all know that they will never stop attacking Trump and this is just throwing pearls before swine.
So, idk anymore.
Trump’s bombastic personality was pure win when he was blasting kikes and feminists and cuckservatives. Now, when he’s doing the same with Russia…idk. It’s one thing to call Rosie O’Donnell a fat slob, but another to brag about killing another nuclear-armed superpower’s soldiers.
