This must happen.

Daily Mail:

Donald Trump has backed his friend Nigel Farage to be appointed Britain’s ambassador to the US in yet another snub to Theresa May.

President-elect Trump tweeted that ‘many people’ wanted to see the interim Ukip leader as the UK’s senior diplomat in Washington and he would do a ‘great job’.

Trump’s intervention will have infuriated Theresa May and Downing Street has today been forced to say there is ‘no vacancy’ in America and backed current ambassador Sir Kim Darroch, a former EU adviser who only started his job in January.

Mr Farage said today: ‘I’m very flattered and I have said since I met the president-elect that I would like to do anything I can to act in a positive way to help relationships between our two countries.’

The president-elect said that ‘many people’ wanted to see the interim Ukip leader as the UK’s senior diplomat in Washington.

The May government says it isn’t happening.

CNN:

The UK has rejected a suggestion by Donald Trump that it should appoint the figurehead of the Brexit movement, Nigel Farage, as ambassador to the US.

President-elect Trump caused diplomatic ripples when he said on Twitter that Farage, interim leader of the rightwing UK Independence Party, would “do a great job” in the post.

But a spokesman for British Prime Minister Theresa May’s office blocked the idea, telling CNN that the position was filled.

Trump’s expression of a preference for UK ambassador to Washington was a startling break with diplomatic protocol. It is unheard of in recent years for any US official to make such a suggestion to an ally.

The President-elect’s Twitter post placed the UK government in an awkward diplomatic spot.

“There is no vacancy. We already have an excellent ambassador to the US,” the Downing Street spokesman said.

But what about the people, Theresa?

What does your population – that voted for Brexit – think about this?

Trump is fighting for Nigel Farage to ultimately take control of the UK.

And it’s a fight he can win.
