Minor victory here for the border wall.
Donald Trump tweeted about it.
Big WIN today for building the wall. It will secure the border & save lives. Now the full House & Senate must act! ➡️https://t.co/TTg7lvBdo2 pic.twitter.com/xhiknXko70

The House Appropriations Committee on Tuesday released a bill allocating $1.6 billion to begin construction of a physical barrier along the U.S. border with Mexico, one of President Trump’s central campaign promises.
The bill funding the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for fiscal year 2018 also negates one of Trump’s central promises, that Mexico would pay for the construction of the wall.
“Keeping Americans safe by protecting our homeland is a top priority. This funding bill provides the resources to begin building a wall along our southern border, enhance our existing border security infrastructure, hire more border patrol agents, and fund detention operations,” said House Appropriations Homeland Security Subcommittee Chairman John Carter.
While this is a good start, it is ridiculous that Congress has not drafted a bill that would fully fund this project. $1.6 billion is not going to give us a completed wall.
The federal government is filled with all sorts of waste, fraud and abuse of taxpayer funds. It is ridiculous to believe that they can’t find the $10 billion to $20 billion to fund a project that was a centerpiece of Trump’s campaign.
I get that Trump said that Mexico would pay for the wall, but I have no problem if they pay us back later in some form. Construction on the wall needs to start immediately.
At least Steve King had some good ideas. He proposed funding the wall by taking money away from the baby killers at Planned Parenthood and the fat bastards who leech off the food stamp program.
We were promised a wall, so give us a damn wall!
Who cares if the Democrats threaten to shut down the government. Change the Senate rules if needed.
No retreat! No surrender!
