We are witnessing the dawn of a great new era.
To build his highly touted deportation force, President Donald Trump is reviving a program that deputizes local officers to enforce federal immigration law.
Step out of the vehicle, Taco.
The program received scant attention as Trump announced on the same day his plans to build a border wall and hire thousands more federal agents as he looks to fulfill promises from his campaign.
By getting local police to collaborate with him, Trump is potentially bypassing federal and state bureaucrats who would resist his agenda.
Policemen are far less politicized; they’re basically just professionals. And they’re solidly on the Trump train.
The program has fallen out of the favor in recent years amid complaints from critics that it promotes racial profiling.
What’s wrong with profiling?
More than 60 police and sheriff’s agencies had the special authority in 2009.
Since then, the number has been halved and the effort scaled back amid complaints officers weren’t focusing on catching violent offenders and instead arrested immigrants for minor violations.
In other words, the program was halted because it was too effective at rooting out these infiltrators. That sounds like a great reason to resurrect it.
We have to ensure that any contact illegal immigrants have with the state, from police, to hospitals, to social services, will result in their deportation. Right now, we’ve got this situation where illegal immigrants can apply for driver’s licenses or give birth to little Beaner babies without anyone reporting them to ICE.
That has to stop.
The noose is tightening around your neck, Tacos. Enjoy America while you still can!
Trump is creating a whole new American industry: salt mining.
