Tavon Harper.
Have you ever lifted a rock and seen a bunch of insects and worms underneath it?
That’s basically what the average crime scene in America is like, but instead of bugs it’s Blacks.
Tavon Jamere Harper, 27, was arrested on drug and fleeing charges and lodged in the Westmoreland County Prison on $500,000 bail.
Police allege that Harper was driving a Jeep sport-utility vehicle on Friday in New Kensington and Rahmael Sal Holt, 29, of Natrona Heights, was his passenger when Officer Brian Shaw attempted a traffic stop around 8 p.m., according to a police affidavit.
“Passenger, Rahmael Holt, fled the vehicle and was pursued by Patrolman Shaw on foot,” Westmoreland County Detective Ray Dupilka wrote in the complaint.
Harper allegedly fled the scene in the Jeep and did not return, Dupilka wrote.
“Immediately following the defendant’s flight from the area, Holt fired multiple shots from a firearm, killing Patrolman Shaw,” the detective wrote in the complaint.
Harper told Dupilka that he had just “delivered a quantity of marijuana” to Holt in Arnold prior to the attempted traffic stop.
Authorities executed a search warrant at a Kenneth Avenue home Saturday and located Harper there. Police allege he was in possession of $2,500 and about two bundles of stamp bags containing suspected heroin, according to the complaint.
Harper was arraigned Sunday morning. He is not charged in connection with Shaw’s death. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records.
Holt is charged with homicide and police are continuing to search for him. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call 911. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.
