The results are in:
Conservatives: 330 seats
Labour: 232 seats
Ukip: 1 seat
The Liberal Democrats: 8 seats
The SNP: 56 seats
The Green Party: 1 seat
Yeah, you’re reading that right. Ukip got one seat.
One.
Nigel Farage has resigned as the leader of the party, as he promised to do if he didn’t win the seat he was standing for.
Ukip got 12% of the vote – the third largest of any party – but because the way voting is distributed by district, they tied for last.
12% of the vote, 0.15% of the seats.
Does that sound right? To anyone?
I guess the good news – if you want to look at it that way – is that Ed Miliband is as hated as you would expect him to be.
And I guess maybe people actually believe that Cameron is going to cut immigration and do an EU referendum as he’s promised to do.
Anyway, the whole thing is very discouraging.
Guess it’s back to the drawing board.
