This is actually somewhat clever.

Defence secretary Gavin Williamson has been busy. In the space of one day he has saturated the media, accusing Russia of spying on the UK’s power grids to distract us all from another juicy tidbit: he’d been cheating on his wife.

On Friday it was Williamson’s name on everyone’s lips. Did he really just say that Russia is coming to get us? Are they spying on us all? Is the sky about to fall in? Such questions made the story of a sneaky kiss with a woman that wasn’t his wife seem insignificant – but that didn’t stop some from connecting the dots.

He didn’t want the affair to come out in the media outside of his control, so he dropped it himself in one paper while also dropping some kook shit about a Russian invasion in another paper.

RT didn’t even catch this until today.

Kevin Spacey should have done this instead of “I’m gay” when he got accused of molesting a 14-year-old boy:

I have a lot of respect and admiration for Anthony Rapp as an actor. I’m beyond horrified to hear his story. I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago. This story has encouraged me to address other things about my life. I know that there are stories out there about me and that some have been fuelled by the fact that I have been so protective of my privacy. As those closest to me know, Russia has been meddling with democracy in the Ukraine and Syria. Russia hacked our elections, and they are planning to invade America and slaughter thousands of people. I want to deal with this honestly and openly and that starts with examining my own behavior.

All the headlines would have been: “SPACEY SAYS RUSSIA READY TO KILL US ALL” and the whole thing would have just blown over.
