Iqbal Ahmed stabbed a man 3 times in the head with ‘a severe amount of force’ and will be out of prison to do it again in about 4 years time.

A man has been jailed for 10 years for stabbing a man in the head.

On 19 December 2013, Iqbal Ahmed, aged 40 of Parmiter Street, E2 was sentenced to 10 years at Snaresbrook Crown Court after pleading guilty to GBH on 4 November.

At 2.30am on 30 June 2013, Ahmed had chased a 27 year old man through Brick Lane. When the victim fell as he ran, Ahmed attacked him stabbing him in the head three times causing life changing injuries.

The weapon used was not recovered but medical reports stated that Ahmed had stabbed the victim in the head using a sharp bladed tool with a “severe amount of force”.

Emergency surgery at an east London hospital almost certainly saved his life.

As a result of the injuries the victim’s physical wellbeing has been severely affected.

The victim’s recovery is not yet complete and further surgery will be required as part of his recuperation.

Detective Sergeant Andy Gravestock of Tower Hamlets CID said: “This was a particularly violent attack. The full extent of the damage caused to the quality of life for the victim is yet to be determined. Iqbal Ahmed will have time to reflect on this as he serves his sentence.”
