Apparently, the British call “tag” “tig.”
I would like some sort of explanation for this. But I doubt I’ll get one.
These Brits are obsessed with butchering the American language.
The popular playground game tig has become the latest game to be banned by teachers trying to protect children.
The simple chase and catch game – also known as tag or it – is no longer allowed at Christ the King School, in Leeds, West Yorkshire, where the head teacher claims children have become upset at the rough and tumble.
Flouting the ban results in being kept inside in play times.
Parents have branded the rule change “ridiculous”, saying pupils should be allowed to play the contact game and enjoy the fresh air in their breaks.
One mother, Dawn O’Toole, 33, said her son, who attended the school until recently, had been disciplined for joining in the game.
“He said he was kept in from the playtimes because he was playing tig,” she said.
Ms O’Toole, who used to work at the school, added: “If we saw them playing tig we had to go over to them and ask them to stop playing that and find something else to play.
“I was shocked, it’s the natural game for children and the children themselves weren’t very happy about it.”
The banning of various forms of children’s violence is part of a feminist program to strip boys of their masculine identity. It also breaks down the ability of both sexes to socialize normally.
The program is working very well.
