It’s amazing the way the media reports these stories.

Do they even stop to think, maybe this White man did racism on these youths?

KHOU:

Two of the three teens who escaped from the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center Sunday have been captured.

Alferis Coby and Deionthay Harper, both 16, were caught by the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force.

“They wasn’t doing their job,” Harper said when asked how they escaped. He told KHOU 11 News it was a mistake and he won’t do it again.

Jahrell West, also 16, is still on the run and he’s considered dangerous.

Authorities were especially concerned about Coby. They say he has a lack of empathy, is extremely aggressive and is considered to be a high risk for psychopathic behavior. Coby was charged with capital murder for allegedly killing a man at a Midtown nightclub earlier this year.

Meanwhile, the guard who was beaten by the 16-year-old ringleader Sunday said he remembers little about the attack – other than the pain.

Coby beat 61-year-old Tom Keneaster unconscious and used the guard’s keys to free the other two inmates.

Keneaster said he’s been dealing with aggressive kids since the Harris County juvenile detention facility opened about 10 years ago in downtown Houston. But nothing like what happened Sunday.

“I had a tooth knocked out and a little bit of fracture in the face,” Keneaster said.

Keneaster said the whole thing started with a simple request.

“He [Coby] wanted some toilet paper, so I brought him some toilet paper,” Keneaster remembered. “That’s when he bucked the door and started pounding on me.”

Keneaster said even after he handed over his keys and cell phone, Coby continued beating him until he was out cold.

It took the teens 15 minutes to make their way down seven floors and they made it through at least three locked doors. Keneaster’s key unlocked two of those doors. But the escapees were buzzed through another door by a command center in the jail.

Officials are still investigating what security protocols were violated.
