Of all the quadrants from which due credit could be given from whence, I was not expecting it to be from Van Jones.
But I must give due credit for his giving due credit.
Speaking on the scene last night where Trump honored the widow of the fallen Navy Seal, Van said:
There are a lot of people who have a lot of reason to be frustrated with him, to be fearful of him. But that was one of the most extraordinary moments you have ever seen in American politics, period. And he did something extraordinary.
And for people who have been hoping that he would become unifying, hoping that he might find some way to become presidential, they should be happy with that moment. For people who have been hoping that maybe he would remain a divisive cartoon, which he often finds a way to do, they should begin to become a little bit worried tonight, because that thing you just saw him do, if he finds a way to do that over and over again, he’s going to be there for eight years.
Now, there was a lot that he said in that speech that was counterfactual, that was not right, that I oppose and will oppose. But he did something tonight that you cannot take away from him. He became president of the United States.
Wow.
Very nice, Mr. Jones.
We appreciate it.
Unsurprisingly, his own team does not appreciate it.
The blaxploitation property The Root basically labeled him an Uncle Tom.
Huffington Post compiled a series of tweets attacking him over it.
Probably, Van just said it in order to appear clever and nuanced. But the state of partisan politics is such these days that I see that and I’m like “yo dis nigga botta switch sides on yall.”
It would be funny if he did become the official pro-Trump black guy. On a purely technical level, I’ve always been impressed with him. He really is the fantasy black man that liberals are so absolutely stupid that they believe every black man has the capacity to become.
Trump does need some blacks.
The reality of our situation is that we’re not going to be deporting these people in the near future, so taming them down to some extent is the only real option for the time-being. Sessions has outlined his plan to make black crime illegal again, which is a very good start, but you’re going to need some blacks to go around telling other blacks what to do.
Anyway. Yeah. I think Jones is just trying to demonstrate his alleged depth. He is a hardcore white-hater.
