Warlords of Tripoli

This is almost a year old (from February, 2014), but worth a watch.  Vice does do a good job shooting footage, despite their weird liberal bias.

Some of the stuff they record is so nuts, you have to wonder if it isn’t staged.  But I guess if you’ve got the balls to go out there in the thick of it, you’re going to get good footage.  They obviously hype it up, make it seem more extreme than it actually is.

Anyway, here you can see a good view of the nature of Moslems, and the fact that they just genuinely love violence.  It would be so easy for them to be like “hey, let’s all just get along,” but they just aren’t interested in that.  Their blood drives them to crave constant violent conflict.

Sunnis and Shias are a bit like the Bloods and the Crips, when you consider it.

Vice’s description:

The war in Syria is dragging neighbouring Lebanon to the edge of the abyss, and nowhere is the growing chaos more stark than in the second city of Tripoli. Sunni militants aligned with the Syrian rebels frequently clash with fighters from the city’s encircled Alawite minority, who support the Assad regime, in bitter street fighting the country’s weak government is powerless to stop. With the rule of law no longer in effect in Tripoli, warlords like Sunni commander Ziad Allouki are now the city’s real rulers, so VICE hung out with him and his fighters for a week to discover why they’re fighting, and whether the country really is on the brink of civil war.
