Okay so as a person that has a pretty good understanding of Brandenburg v. Ohio and various other laws, I can say that this is not technically an assassination threat. In the legal sense.
However, it definitely is an extremely inappropriate joke, which I would assume the Secret Service is required to investigate.
At an appearance in England on Thursday, actor Johnny Depp joked about assassinating President Trump.
Depp was at a drive-in movie theater in Glastonbury, where he introduced his 2004 film The Libertine, when he began talking about the president, according to The Guardian.
“I think he needs help and there are a lot of wonderful dark, dark places he could go,” Depp said.
Depp, noting his comments would “be in the press,” began discussing prior assassinations of presidents.
“When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?” he asked, referencing John Wilkes Booth assassinating President Abraham Lincoln in 1865.
“I want to clarify, I am not an actor. I lie for a living,” Depp said. “However, it has been a while and maybe it is time.”
A White House official told Fox News, “President Trump has condemned violence in all forms and its sad that others like Johnny Depp have not followed his lead. I hope that some of Mr. Depp’s colleagues will speak out against this type of rhetoric as strongly as they would if his comments were directed to a democrat elected official.”
Depp’s comments come a week after the politically-motivated shooting of Louisiana Rep. Steve Scalise.
Yeah, a week after, which takes it beyond the realm of the bizarre into the realm of the ultra-bizarre.
These people do want to incite violence. That is the purpose of these statements. Otherwise, they would just talk shit without specifically mentioning acts of violence, as used to be the SOP for liberals.

Depp is the first one to do it after the Scalise assassination, when even HuffPo is temporarily toning down their solicitation of political violence.
Basically, Depp has a need to be edgy.
Once considered a pretty serious actor – and based his identity on being a mysterious, sexy, intriguing person – he’s spend the last two decades descending into Disneyland/Tim Burton hell, and become an utter joke.
I mean, at this point, one would have to consider Brendan Fraiser a more serious actor. Certainly Nick Cage is leagues above Depp, and Cage has never even attempted to take himself seriously.
Now this poor bastard is going around dressed like a teenager at a Marilyn Manson concert in 1995, 54-year-old and looking like he’s 74-years-old.
He is overweight. He just went through a nightmare, embarrassing divorce. And so the only thing he can do to stay cool – while making a life out of the worst type of live-action Disney films – is threaten to assassinate a populist President who is cooler, hipper, edgier, sexier and more interesting as a personality at 70 than Depp was in his prime.
This is what drugs will do to you, kids.
You think you can handle them when you’re young, but if you don’t chill out before you hit thirty, you’re going to end up like Johnny Depp. Except without all the money.
Honestly, he must not really have that much money, or he would have stopped doing these Disney/Burton films and tried to retain some modicum of human dignity. From what I’ve read, he has an extremely expensive lifestyle – I’m sure the drugs are a big part of it – and he pretty much has to keep humiliating himself with yet another Pirate or Alice in Wonderland joke of a film in order to support this lifestyle that his empty soul requires to keep from collapsing in on itself.
There’s a lot to be learned from Johnny Depp about meaning in life, I think.
I obviously hate the concept of celebrity, but I think it is possible for an actor, as an artist, to live a meaningful and creative life. I recently wrote about Adam West, and how I thought he did a good job of making the best of a situation that was difficult for him, after he was refused roles for having been Batman.
Obviously, we here at the Daily Stormer have much love for Mel Gibson and Oliver Stone. But there are several other Hollywood figures, I think, who have been true artists, and some who still are.
The purpose of a man’s life has to be one of the following:
- War, conquest, revenge
- Creation
Or some combination of the two.
I consider what I do to be some combination of the two.
The drive for this goes back to our basic, tribal nature – a need to be a contributor to the society.
It is about becoming a respected individual. Respected for your accomplishments. Johnny Depp could have been that, but instead became a ridiculous clown, because he couldn’t manage his personal life.
And he has failed to embrace the absurdity and irony of being a professional clown, in the way that Adam West and Nick Cage have, instead he has continued to try to think of himself as a serious person, and this has made him an ineffectual clown. The worst sort of clown.
