We’re Getting Closer to the Road War, Lads

Things are escalating in America. It’s gotten almost cliche at this point to talk about the looming civil war.

But things aren’t really quite all there yet.

Why do I say that?

Well, when I’m not obviously having fun with my articles, I am keeping tabs on the actual progression towards all-out road war.

We’re getting there, but we’re not all of the way there…yet. There’s nuance to this, you plebs.

And it turns out that the whole Huckabee restaurant thing, of all things, really escalated the situation.

RT:

As resistance to the Trump administration moves from Twitter to the streets, many on the right are anticipating that protests will turn violent. Trump’s aides, they say, should arm themselves.

Last weekend saw chanting protesters camped outside Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen’s house; White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders booted from a Virginia restaurant with her family; and Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi screamed at and spat on by a progressive mob as she tried to attend a movie in Tampa.

It also saw Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters (California) – a committed anti-Trumper who’s called for the President’s impeachment dozens of times – come out and condone public harassment of Trump officials.

So even though we had an unhinged left wing guy take shots at US senators playing baseball, because no Democrat politicians came forward and endorsed the attack, the Road War meter didn’t budge.

But an endorsement from a politician of harassment of a Trump cabinet member…that really changes things.

Trump certainly thinks so.

“If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere,” said Waters.

The political left’s rage has spiked since news about the Trump administration’s separation of children from their illegal immigrant parents threw the President’s immigration policy into the national spotlight.

President Trump hit back at Waters, calling her “an extraordinarily low IQ person,” but to many on the right, the new-found aggression of the anti-Trump left means Republicans need to get concealed carry permits and arm up.

So what is going on here?

These things have a process – a progression if you will. A gradual preparation for political violence is clearly underway now. There’s a lot of momentum behind this push already, but we’re still not quite there yet.

And I do get the feeling that political activists on the Left understand this.

People have to be prepared first, the groundwork laid down, certain formalities observed before they can really take things to the next level.

I guess the best analogy I have is the courting ritual and all the steps that go into seducing a man seducing a woman.

Whether you know about it or not – I’m guessing at this point, most readers do – there used to be a far more active community of pick-up artists online for a while. They would try to explain what goes into a successful modern courting ritual.

Just like a PUA doesn’t immediately whip his shlong out and dive dick-first for the snatch of the prettiest girl in the club, so too do political agitators try to ease people into political action, not spring it on them.

But maybe the PUA analogy isn’t totally apt.

Think about a drunken bar brawl instead.

I read this guy who basically applied the same methodical approach to analyzing the rituals leading up to bar fights and it really stuck with me – even though his name did not.

Once I remember his book, I’ll link him for sure.

Anyways, he talked about how fights start with eye-contact. Your eyes are wandering across the room at a bar and you catch eyes with a dude giving you an intense stare. Instead of looking past him, you get pulled into a staring contest that lasts half a second too long.

He furrows his brow and he lobs a question over your way.

“What the fook you lookin’ at?”

At this point, we’ve already passed stage one and stage two of the ritual leading up to a bar brawl.

The eye-catch followed by the verbal challenge in the form of a question.

Step three is the approach and the “puff-up”. Basically, the other guy gets all up in your personal space and makes himself look big. He does this by getting very close to your eyes so he fills up your field of vision and then in most cases, he will legit actually puff himself up.

You can scoff if you want, but most fights have rituals leading up to them. Same as most seductions. That’s the point I’m trying to make here.

And now let’s make the leap from PUA mating rituals to bar brawl rituals to political violence rituals.

Because you tend to have a run-up ritual to political violence same as you do with seducing a woman or having an actual fight.

The first step is to demonize your opponent. Easily done when you have the media on your side.

Then you drive your supporters into a mad lather. Any mention of the opponent triggers a visceral gut reaction of hate.

I think that we’re past this and at the next stage already though.

To go back to the bar fight analogy, we’re in the jostling phase. If the combatants are not serious about the fight, they’ll prolong it a bit, pushing each other back and forth a bit until their friends step in to break up the fight.

“He’s not wurf it, mate,” and so on.

And this is a key, crucial pivot point. The rubber either hits the pavement and we’re off to Road  War, or someone backs down.

Things can easily escalate past the point of no return because now, I think we could be entering the second part of the jostling phase.

This is the part where you start legit pushing each other back and forth, trying to figure out who will be the first to punch, hoping that its the other guy, but not too hard, so that you have the self-defense argument on your side, but so you’re not actually too hurt to not be able to fight back.

With the tolerance for Antifa, violent anti-Trump protests, and now the incitement to harass Republicans, the Left is straight up pushing and prodding and poking the chest of Trump’s America saying, “you ain’t got no balls, son.”

If they get no pushback, they might even pour their beer over Trump’s head next.

Eh, close enough.

And then it seems clear that it’s only a matter of time.

Like, legit only a matter of time before Republican politicians get straight up attacked and the Left either endorses it or just decides to say nothing about it.

That’s a real, not even memeing around possibility now.

In fact, it is quite clearly the next step. Someone lefty is just going to have to take the next step and see what the reaction from his base is. If bigwig lefties say something along the lines of “we don’t condone, but we understand,” that’s bad enough. But I think the radical elements in the party might start defending the next guy who goes after Trump and his people, don’t you?

The only question is, when the time comes, will Trump be ready to hit back?
