We are losing ground at such a rapid rate it is incredible.
White Christians now make up less than half of the US population, according to the latest results from Pew Research Center’s Religious Landscape survey.
Just 46% of American adults are white Christians, down from 55% in 2007, according to the survey, published Monday by National Journal’s Next America project.
9% in 8 years? That is an insane drop.
And while the percentage of white Christians fell, they still make up 69% of Republicans. On the other hand, white Christians account for 31% of Democrats.
Among non-white Christians, 32% identify with or lean toward Democrats, and just 13% do the same with Republicans.
Experts say the shift is partially due to the country’s increasing ethnic diversity and the growing number of Americans who don’t have any religious affiliations.
It’s a lot more due to the former than the latter.
Obviously, people’s religious views are their own business, and I’ve no issue with White Americans who prefer to identify as irreligious. However, on the whole, irreligiosity is associated with liberalism, which is negative. Most people who are just “culturally Christian” and don’t really practice or necessarily believe in the religion will still say “Christian” on a poll. It is mainly rebellious persons, interested in denying a traditional marker of collective identity, who would say “Atheist.”
So, yes, fewer Whites answering “Christian” is a problem sociologically.
But that isn’t really the issue here. The issue, again, is racial demographics, and the fact that we are being replaced in our own homeland at such a rapid pace.
This needs to be addressed quickly.
