Police records show a Knoxville man admitted to fatally stabbing another man who was making unwanted sexual advances toward his girlfriend. He’s now been charged with first degree murder.
Charles Hardy Jr. and his girlfriend, Kendra Ryan, were initially arrested and charged with abuse of a corpse on Wednesday, May 23, after the Knoxville Police Department investigated a report of a dead male inside an apartment at Windsor Court Apartments.
Investigators said the man, identified as as Kerry Eugene Dickinson, died as a result of foul play.
Hardy allegedly told investigators that he and Dickinson got into a verbal argument after he did not stop making advances toward Ryan. He told officers the argument turned physical, and he struck Dickinson several times before pulling a knife from his pocket and stabbing him repeatedly.
Officers discovered the body in the bathroom of apartment No. 12 upon arrival, and said his wallet and other personal items were missing. Hardy allegedly told officers that he dragged Dickinson into the bathroom, where he stayed for three days. Hardy also told officers that he attempted to clean the blood out of the carpet where Dickinson died.
