If we’re going to have Blacks, we need at the very least to restrict their driving rights.
WRCB:
A Chattanooga woman was seriously injured over the weekend when she was hit by a car and the driver kept going. Seventy-year-old Laura Sue Carden was hit as she was crossing Mississippi Avenue early Saturday morning.
Laura, who goes by Sue to family and friends, is known to walk in the early morning hours. Her family hopes the person who hit her does the right thing and comes forward.
“I was thinking she would die. And I just hated the fact that she’d gotten hurt. She’s such a little frail thing,” says Sue Carden’s sister, Pat Lawson.
Lawson says all she can do is pray for her sister.
“I was just shocked to see how badly she’s broken up. How horrible the accident must have been for her.”
Around 3:30 Saturday morning Sue went for a walk.
“She’d get up at that time and walk and come back and get her coffee,” says Lawson.
She was crossing near the 700 block of Mississippi Avenue in Chattanooga when a driver topped a hill and struck her and left the scene.
“They said there was no places on the road where there was any attempt to stop at all,” says Lawson.
Sue is unconscious in the ICU. She has a broken pelvis, collar bone, fractured leg, broken bones in her neck, liver damage and head injuries.
“She’s 70 years old. I don’t know how she’s going to do this,” says Lawson.
“They lowered the speed limits through that area. They’ve got speed bumps through that area. It’s a shame that this thing, something like this could still happen,” says Stanley Carden, Sue’s brother.
“My mother was very giving. She would give anything just to help,” says David Carden, her son.
For the past 10 years, Sue has worked at the Sports Barn in downtown Chattanooga, keeping the place tidy and helping customers.
Friends of the family have started a Go-Fund-Me page to help with expenses.
“We’ve asked people to do prayer chains,” says Lawson.
They are also asking for the driver who hit Sue to take responsibility.
“Not that many people arrive at home at 3:30 or four in the morning so maybe we can narrow this down,” says David.
There are witnesses to the accident. They describe the driver as a black male in a silver or blue colored sedan. Investigators say the car will likely have front end damage. If you have info that can help, call Chattanooga police at 423-698-2525.
She is now, like so many White women, a Go Fund Me page.
