A racial hate crime mob attack, or as the CBS Philly called it “an altercation that turned physical,” was caught on surveillance camera. Teenage black males, brutally attacked and broke the jaw of a white male pedestrian. The black teenagers were on a rampage, vandalizing cars and menacing motorists. They attempted to pull a woman out of her car. The media censored the race of that victim.
“I saw a bunch of kids on bikes and they were beating in side-view mirrors on cars, just parked cars,” Shane Carey said.
Shane confronted the group and told them to stop, but they began to follow him and call him names.
“They started threatening me,” he said. “All the kids were gathered on a street corner pointing at me, and starting to shout at me.”And within seconds he was hit, without ever seeing his attacker. The teens scattered, but a couple living nearby ran to help. That’s the next thing Shane remembers.
“My head was being cradled by this woman and I couldn’t really understand what was going on, but she was putting gauze to my head,” he said. “I wanted to thank her for doing that for me.”
“It was a parent’s worst nightmare, but I just want to thank her because it sounds like it could have been a lot worse,” his mother said.
A witness was able to identify the boys. A 16-year-old and two 12-year-olds were arrested. They were also wanted for harassing another couple in their car a half an hour earlier on 18th and Lombard Street.
“I just think that people shouldn’t be scared to live in their own neighborhood,” Carey said.
