Two men are arraigned in Worcester District Court in connection to the shooting death of 52-year-old Lloyd Worster, a janitor at the Albion Rooming House in Worcester, Mass.

Prosecutors say 53-year-old Howard Penn, a security guard at the same rooming house on main street is alleged to have been in an argument with the victim Friday evening.

“When Mr. Worster is walking away, Mr. Penn produced a firearm, fired one shot at the back of Mr. Worster, killing him,” said Assistant District Attorney Brett Dillon.

“Apparently, the two are known to each other, there’s been some long-standing feud between the two,” said Worcester Police Sgt. Kerry Hazelhurst.

Penn called 9-1-1 himself and admitted to shooting Worster, he claims it was in self-defense.

Penn’s lawyer says there may be evidence to support that claim, including the 911 tape and security footage from the building.

Police say security guards at the Albion don’t even carry weapons.

“This was his own weapon that he had. He did not have a license to carry,” said Hazelhurst.

Along with first degree murder, Penn faces firearms charges.

Thirty-three-year old Fabiano Sanabria took the gun from the scene and hid it in the rooming house.

Worster’s death is the first homicide in Worcester in 2014. Police say they’re familiar with the suspects and the address.

“It’s a facility that police spend a lot of time in dealing with a various array of issues, and some of the people involved where known to police officers that were investigating at the time,” said Hazelhurst.
