A 28-year-old Lubbock man has been indicted in the beating death of a lawyer who was killed at the law office — which had living quarters — where both men were staying.
The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports that a Lubbock County grand jury on Tuesday indicted Jestin Hooker in the slaying last month of 61-year-old Steven Wallace.
Court records show that Hooker is being charged with a felony count of murder. Hooker is being held at the Lubbock County Detention Center on $500,000 bond. Jail records do not list an attorney.
Police responded to a disturbance at the law office, which had living quarters, in the early morning hours of July 23 after getting a call about a fight between two men.
A motive has not been revealed.
