A man who was brutally attacked more than two years ago has died of his injuries at a long-term care center.
A medical examiner has ruled the death a homicide, giving Flint 68 slayings for 2012 — a year that had already broken the city’s record homicide mark.
Dequarius Antoine Brown is already serving six years, nine months to 40 years in prison for the attack. Prosecutors have not decided if they will seek fresh murder charges.
Gregory Patrick Glynn died Feb. 15, more than two years after the attack, at Heartland Healthcare Center-Briarwood at the age of 53.
Glynn was the victim of a brutal Dec. 4, 2012, beating and suspected robbery near the Quick Pick Party Store at Glenwood Avenue and Court Street.
His nephew, Curtis Glynn, said Gregory Glynn had just finished shopping and was leaving the store when he was attacked.
Curtis Glynn, 40, of Swartz Creek, said the attacker pushed his uncle to the ground and began kicking him in the head, before being accused of stealing his wallet and cellphone.
Police arrived and discovered Brown, who matched a description of the suspect, nearby. Gregory Glynn’s cellphone was found in his pocket.
