Doyle Ingram was found shot dead in his truck, after he had gone to meet a Negro about a business transaction.

An Alpine man was arrested by members of the Talladega County Sheriff’s Office late Thursday afternoon and charged with murder in the June 19 homicide of 66-year-old Talladega native Doyle Ingram.

According to Talladega County Sheriff Jimmy Kilgore, a warrant was obtained for 29-year-old Cecil Rashad Chappell, an employee at the Talladega County Jail.

Kilgore said an area resident discovered Ingram’s body in his own truck parked at Nottingham Road on June 19 with the engine still running, and called 911, thinking there had been an accident.

Cecil Rashad Chappell lost his temper and shot the White man, before loading him up in the White man’s car and driving it to a different location.

“Investigation revealed that Chappell had been involved in a business transaction with Ingram,” he said. “Ingram had gone to Chappell’s home to discuss the matter and ultimately was shot to death by Chappell. He then loaded the body into Ingram’s truck and drove it to the location where it was discovered on Nottingham Road.”

Chappell is being held in the Coosa County Jail since he was an employee at the Talladega County Jail, Kilgore added.
