A St. Petersburg man faces a charge of second-degree murder in a shooting police say began over excessive noise outside his apartment.
Police responding to a report of a person shot around 7 p.m. at the Gateway Apartments, 2000 Gandy Blvd., found 25-year-old William Porter Headlee lying on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body.
A witness told police Headlee and Lonnie Lee, 34, were arguing over excessive noise outside Lee’s apartment when Lee punched him, knocking him to the ground and shooting him as he got up.
Lee told investigators he shot Headlee after he was pushed.
Lee is being held at the Pinellas County Jail.
