White Sheriff Out of Surgery After Multiple Gun Shot Wounds from Black Carjacker

Berkeley County Sheriff Lt. Will Rogers was shot by a wild Negro while he was talking to a customer at a gas station.

Berkeley County Sheriff Lt. Will Rogers is out of surgery and in stable condition at MUSC after suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in Moncks Corner at Thursday night.

The incident happened at the Exxon at Highway 52 and Cypress Gardens in Moncks Corner. The shooting happened in the Moncks Corner Police Department jurisdiction.

Officials say Lt. Rogers was talking to a customer at the gas station when the suspect came up and shot him several times around 10:30 pm.

Just before noon, SLED officials released surveillance video of the scene showing the suspect also carjacking the driver of a black Hyundai Santa Fe and then leaving the gas station.

Lt. Rogers was a candidate for Berkeley County Sheriff in the GOP Primary.

The suspect was driving a Black Santa Fe SUV with tag number 542-85W. The vehicle was found shortly after a BOLO on the vehicle was released.

After midnight, people who live in the area say they received an automated call from Berkeley County asking them to stay indoors.

The suspect was described by witnesses as wearing a black ski mask and a white long sleeve shirt and dark or grey running pants with a white stripe on the side. He was seen carrying what appears to be a silk red and maroon sack or bag. The suspect is described as a male 5’10” to 6’4″, 200-225 pounds, thin build. He’s considered armed and dangerous. Officials say do not approach, and if you see anything call 911.
