Josh Berry with KARK/Fox 16 reports that the Benton woman injured by a hit-and-run vehicle in the Target parking lot in Bryant has died.
The 20-year-old woman, Heather Danielle Baker, was struck Thursday afternoon while walking in the parking lot. A store employee followed the pickup to an apartment, where police arrested Marcus Dorsey, 39. Police say his vehicle hit at least two other vehicles on Interstate 30 before exiting the freeway and speeding across the Target lot.
Dorsey was charged originally with battery and leaving the scene of an accident.
He now faces a murder charge and multiple counts of leaving the scene of an accident and driving with a suspended license. KATV reports from a preliminary hearing this morning that Dorsey had told police he used “sherm” and alcohol before the incident. Sherm is generally used as a term for marijuana cigarettes dipped in the drug PCP.
