Branchville Fire Chief Alan Oakley was murdered by his wife and their shared lovers when he tried to end the ‘open relationship’ with one of them.

The last of the women who conspired to kill Branchville Fire Chief Allen Oakley has been sentenced.

Carrie Brown, 26, was sentenced to 15 years in prison on a charge of voluntary manslaughter during a hearing on Thursday. A five-year sentence on a conspiracy charge is to run concurrently.

Brown entered a guilty plea during a hearing in July 2014. Sentencing was delayed until a pre-sentencing report could be completed.

At the 2014 hearing, Melody Oakley, 41, and Ann Anderson, 48, were sentenced to 30 years each after they pleaded guilty to their roles in murdering Oakley’s husband while he slept.

An autopsy showed the Branchville fire chief died of a single stab wound to the neck.

Prosecutor Ashley Cornwell said the three women were taken into custody only days after they conspired together to take Allen Oakley out of a love triangle involving the Oakleys and Anderson.

Allen Oakley wanted to end the relationship with Anderson after she became involved in a criminal matter. The women hatched a plan, including texting code words, to murder the fire chief.
