One of the most encouraging things about the collapse of the Donald Trump presidency has been the fact that Breitbart, pressured by their audience no doubt, has been almost as critical of the president’s bizarre new direction as we have been here at the Daily Stormer.
It felt like no one was going to be able to convince Trump’s base that his new “everything for Israel” and “we need more immigrants than any time in history so they can work in factories” was the same thing that he had sold us during the campaign and really for the first two years of his presidency.
But Trump being cleared on all charges by Robert Mueller’s witch hunt group is really going to be a boon for the president – and it may help to get his base excited about him as a person, rather than noticing all the stuff he is doing and not doing.
I guess time will tell, but right now Breitbart looks like Fox News, with wall-to-wall coverage of how great it is that Trump has been freed from this hoaxspiracy against him.
And I can understand celebrating that even outside of being a Trump supporter. This was a dark time. It was the kind of thing that drives people insane. And it felt like it would never end, and now it finally has ended.
But unless Trump says “okay, now that that’s over, let’s get back on course” and fires Jared Kushner and returns to MAGA, then my opinion of him has not changed at all because he was shown to not be a Russian agent. No one actually believed he was a Russian agent to begin with and I wouldn’t even have cared if he was – in fact, a straight Russian agent would be a helluva lot better than the president we ended up with.
If anything, this whole thing has just made me angrier at Trump. Because for one he didn’t end it even though he should have and for another how the hell is it a coincidence that he gives his blessing to Israel stealing the Golan Heights on Purim and then the next day it’s announced that he’s cleared of all charges?
That is one serious hell of a coincidence.
I think there will be a brief period of exuberance among MAGApedes now that this has been announced, and then I suspect they will go back to remembering that he is abusing us and doing the opposite of what he said he’d do.
But watch Breitbart. They’re going to try to spin these people back into the Trump train to Stupidville.
