A Philadelphia teen has waived his preliminary hearing and will likely plead guilty in connection with the hit-and-run accident that critically injured a Temple University lacrosse player.
The case for 18-year-old Rashan Roberts will proceed to trial, but his attorney says he hopes to negotiate a guilty plea.
He surrendered to police May 6 after his parents contacted authorities and told them their son was driving the 2012 Mitsubishi Gallant that hit 22-year-old Rachel Hall.
Roberts only had a learner’s permit.
Hall was hit while riding her bicycle April 29 near Temple’s campus in North Philadelphia. She remains unconscious at Temple University Hospital.
The Mullica Hill, New Jersey native was a senior majoring in criminal justice. Her mother accepted her diploma this month at Temple’s graduation.
