Brandon sold drugs like a beaner, associated with beaners and, in the end, died like a beaner.

It was inevitable.

WCJB:

Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested 16-year-old Luis Ortega and charged him with 1st degree premeditated murder. M.C.S.O. says that Ortega is responsible for the shooting death of 18-year-old Brandon Hammett that happened on October 26, 2018, during an attempted armed robbery.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office issued a report that says around 6:30 pm on Oct. 26, 2018, Marion Deputies and Ocala Police Officers responded to a report of a shooting on SW 43rd Court and found Hammett in a car suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital but later died of his injuries.

Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies say that they found during the course of their investigation that Ortega was invited to help rob Hammett by Dalton Purvis, Denver Sutter, and Carlos Flores-Renteria, who knew Ortega possessed a gun, with which they intended to intimidate Hammett. Deputies say Purvis felt that Hammett had shorted him the last time he had bought marijuana from Hammett and wanted to rob him.

Deputies go on to say that the group then arranged a meeting with Hammett under the guise of buying more marijuana, but then attempted to rob him. Hammett tried to reverse away but was shot by Ortega.

Purvis, Sutter, and Flores-Renteria were arrested shortly after the shooting and charged with felony murder. A grand jury convened and issued a warrant for Ortega’s arrest on January 15, 2019. He was arrested later that same day.
