The upshot from this Turkish coup situation, which was described by Sultan Erdogan as “a blessing from Allah,” and which I believe was most likely staged by Erdogan himself, is that it seems to mark a cancellation of the country’s plans to join the EU.
A country with the death penalty is not allowed to join the EU.
CNN:
More than a million Turks united in Istanbul on Sunday night as part of a pro-democracy rally following last month’s failed coup.
The massive demonstration, dubbed the “Democracy and Martyrs’ Rally,” was held at a parade ground in Turkey’s biggest city and saw both supporters of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s AKP party and opposition parties gather.
There, in a sea of red Turkish flags, they expressed support for the democratic process, rejecting a return to the country’s restive past, when military coups were commonplace.
Erdogan also reiterated his willingness to reinstate the death penalty as part of a post-coup realignment of the country’s laws.
During the rally he said that despite the opposition of the European Union, the people of Turkey supported capital punishment — meaning that he had a mandate to sign it into the law.
In an unprecedented show of unity, leaders and supporters of the opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and Republican People’s Party (CHP) joined Erdogan supporters in light of the failed takeover attempt.
CHP leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu said that the bloody coup attempt, which claimed 239 lives and injured nearly 2,200 others, was the beginning of a new era of compromise.
“Post July 15, now there is a new Turkey. If we can carry this power and the culture of reconciliation even further, we will leave a better Turkey for our children,” he told the crowd, according to Turkish state media.
The message of leaders’ and other speakers’ speeches were clear — thanking the Turkish population for standing up for the concept of democracy.
Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said that the takeover attempt had unified the country. “Every coup which does not kill us, makes us stronger. Just like here and now,” he said.
Erdogan said the coup’s architects “made a lot of sinister calculations but miss something. The faith and determination of this nation.” The president lays the blame at the feet of Fethullah Gulen, a one-time ally but now fierce critic who lives in self-imposed exile in the US.
It’s almost a month now, and Erdogan has yet to provide any evidence for his theory that Gulen was behind the coup. This is after over 100,000 people have been accused of involvement in the plot, and have been raided or arrested. You’d think he’d have come up with at least one smoking gun. But we haven’t seen it yet.
Presumably, the bid to join the EU was a hoax all along, with Erdogan simply baiting the big money in Germany into writing him checks. He’s received at least 5 billion euros to prepare his country to join the union.
Still Cool with Mama Merkel – Deal has Not Been Altered
For her part, Angela Merkel has said that Turkey’s decision to engage in mass arrests, torture, a total shutdown of the media, etc. – and now the death penalty, apparently – does not affect the dirty deals she is doing with the Sultan.
These dirty deals were not directly related to the larger dirty deal by the EU to get Turkey into the union, but involved the transfer of other billions to Turkey, as well as a promise to allow Turks visa-free access to the EU, as a bribe for Turkey no longer helping Pakistanis, Afghans, Iraqis, Syrians, etc. to enter Europe.
A poll released yesterday shows that the overwhelming majority of Germans are against the deal.
Most Germans think the European Union should scrap a landmark migration deal with Turkey and scupper negotiations on its accession to the bloc, according to a poll published on Sunday.
…
But the Emnid survey for German weekly Bild am Sonntag showed 52 percent were in favour of the migration deal being terminated, compared with 35 percent who wanted it to continue.
More than two thirds of the 502 people surveyed on August 4 also wanted an immediate freeze of aid payments to Turkey, and 66 percent wanted the EU accession talks entirely broken off.
Merkel doesn’t care.
Turkey was involved in providing safe passage to these illegal immigrants after Angela Merkel – known to Moslems as “Mama Merkel” – invited the entire population of West Asia and North Africa to come live on welfare in Germany last year, ostensibly because she felt bad that their countries are poor.
Purposeful Genocide?
Critics have accused Merkel of conspiring to exterminate the European race, which is in-line with the plans of the founder of the Pan-European Movement, the ideological foundation of the EU, Count Richard von Coudenhove-Kalergi.
Coudenhove-Kalergi literally planned a mixed-race Europe ruled over by Jews.
He wrote in his infamous treatise on the future European superstate, Praktischer Idealismus (Practical Idealism):
The man of the future will be of mixed race. Today’s races and classes will gradually disappear owing to the vanishing of space, time, and prejudice. The Eurasian-Negroid race of the future, similar in its appearance to the Ancient Egyptians, will replace the diversity of peoples with a diversity of individuals.
…
Instead of destroying European Jewry, Europe, against its own will, refined and educated this people into a future leader-nation through this artificial selection process. No wonder that this people, that escaped Ghetto-Prison, developed into a spiritual nobility of Europe. Therefore a gracious Providence provided Europe with a new race of nobility by the Grace of Spirit. This happened at the moment when Europe’s feudal aristocracy became dilapidated, and thanks to Jewish emancipation.
Coudenhove-Kalergi was the first winner of the Charlemagne Prize, an award given for those who make strides in the integration of Europe into a superstate. Merkel won the award in 2006.
Here are some recent winners of the award.
After people became enraged over the mass-invasion by Moslems which Merkel invited, she claimed the only way to stop the invasion was to bribe Turkey to do it. No explanation was given for why European navies can’t simply turn the boats around.
By pulling out of the EU deal, keeping the money, and staying in the deal for visa-free travel, Erdogan gets the best of everything. It means that he can freely send his people (as well as the “refugees,” which he can just issue passports to) into Europe, while not having to abide by any European regulations.
Truly, a gift from Allah.
