AMC Theaters Delays Reopening Again But Says Some Day They’ll Open

The theater industry is obviously finished.

Why do they keep acting as though it isn’t?

Reuters:

AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc said on Thursday it has delayed the reopening of its movie theaters in the United States to mid to late August, in alignment with the new release dates of Disney’s “Mulan” and Christopher Nolan’s thriller, “Tenet”.

UK’s Cineworld Group PLC also pushed its U.S. reopening date to mid-August, although the company remains on track to welcome back movie-goers in Britain at the end of this month.

Movie theaters across the world were shuttered since the mid-March when several countries imposed lockdowns and social distancing measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Probably, the plan is to keep sending mixed signals to the population, to keep them in a state of confusion.

They say on one hand that normal is never coming back, then on the other hand say it’s just a matter of time. That prevents people from ever coming to terms with the new normal if they think the old normal is maybe going to return, and this is all just temporary.

I’ll just go ahead and tell you as a matter of absolute fact: the movie theaters are never opening again.
