Kim Jong Un Visits Russia on Steampunk Style Armored Train

Kim likes to travel in style. I like that in a leader.

But more than that, I just find motorcades to be very passe. Same thing for private jets. Any jackass can buy a jet.

How many leaders go all out and travel in an armored train though?

One that gets obsessively polished by an army of men in very nice suits every time it stops?

Kim is literally the only leader in the world that travels this way and frankly, I think he deserves to get credit for that.

I am surely not the only one who has noticed this flex by the North Korean leader by now though.

Everyone is going to get in on this new trend. This is long overdue.

I want to see someone pull up to an official state visit in a steampunk submarine within the next year or so.

Because an armored train sets the steampunk bar very high and you’re going to have to work hard to top it.

While Kim Jong Un is leading the way in reinvigorating the genre of IRL steampunk, this title can be taken from him by the first leader to start traveling in a dirigible.

That being said, this competition could go in a completely different direction.

Think about the prestige that the first world leader would enjoy if they were to immerse themselves within a mecha.

There are so many possibilities. And each mode of transportation carries a different symbolic weight to it.

Soaring in the sky in style sends one message. Lurking in the ocean depths sends another. Walking around like a titan would be pretty boss as well.

Different nations should adopt different transportation methods that exemplify the unique qualities of each nation.

Kim Jong Un understands this. Instead of traveling like a deracinated empty suit politician, he’s channeled the mountainous and disciplined spirit of the Korean people and manifested it into an armored train – the avatar and pride of North Korea.

I can only hope that the other nations’ leaders follow his example and begin to diversify their transportation methods.

Kim’s meeting with Putin seems to have gone well.

AP:

President Vladimir Putin says he’s willing to share details with the United States about his summit on Thursday with Kim Jong Un, potentially raising Russia’s influence in the stalemated issue of North Korean denuclearization.

The two leaders’ first one-on-one did not indicate major changes in North Korea’s position: Putin said Kim is willing to give up nuclear weapons, but only if he gets ironclad security guarantees.

However, Putin said Kim urged him to explain the nuances of North Korea’s position to President Donald Trump. Such an interlocutor role could be meaningful in light of Trump’s apparent admiration of the Russian leader.

Trump has said he “fell in love” with Kim, possibly indicating a proclivity to being swayed toward accommodation with the North Korean leader, although that declaration came before the Trump-Kim summit in Hanoi in February that collapsed over mismatched demands in sanctions relief and disarmament.

At Thursday’s summit in the Pacific port city of Vladivostok, about 75 miles (120 kilometers) from the North Korean border, Kim criticized Washington for taking “unilateral attitude in bad faith” at the Trump-Kim meeting that has caused a diplomatic standstill, North Korea’s state-run Korean Central News Agency said Friday. Kim told Putin that the situation on the Korean Peninsula has reached a “critical point” where it could return to tensions and that peace and security will “entirely depend on the U.S. future attitude,” the agency said.

These are the adults in the room.

Meanwhile, Trump has surrounded himself with unhinged babies who just want to destroy the entire world as part of some inside joke.

It may well be a hilarious joke, but no one can say, because no one knows what it is.
