Mark Milley Says the Ukraine Only has 30 Days Left for “Offensive”

Yikes!

Doesn’t seem like it’s going great!

BBC News:

Ukraine has little more than 30 days left of fighting before the weather hinders its counter-offensive, the top-ranking US military officer says.

Speaking to the BBC’s Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg programme, Gen Mark Milley said colder conditions would make it much harder for Ukraine to manoeuvre.

He admitted the offensive had gone more slowly than expected. But he said: “There’s still heavy fighting going on.

“The Ukrainians are still plugging away with steady progress.”

That is, in fact, utter bullshit.

Anyone can go on DeepStateMap and see for themselves. There has not been a single point at which the Ukraine has broken through the first (of three) lines of Russian defense.

Gen Milley said it was too early to say whether the counter-offensive had failed, but said Ukraine was “progressing at a very steady pace through the Russian front lines”.

“There’s still a reasonable amount of time, probably about 30 to 45 days’ worth of fighting weather left, so the Ukrainians aren’t done.

“There’s battles not done… they haven’t finished the fighting part of what they’re trying to accomplish.”

Well, dude.

What they said they were going to accomplish was… taking back Crimea.

That was announced, repeatedly, all through the media. All of those shitty doge meme Twitter accounts were saying it.

I remember.

These people can’t simply claim that there were not hundreds of articles published about the inevitability of the “counteroffensive” leading to a capture of Crimea.

Turning this into “actually, we meant to sacrifice tens of thousands of soldiers in order to occupy totally empty villages Russia was not even trying to occupy” is the kookiest thing I’ve ever seen.

Of course, anyone who supported the war in the first place is too stupid to remember things that happened three months ago.

Milley is obviously not a big supporter of this war. It’s his job to support it, but he’s not an unhinged lunatic like Nuland or Blinken, and he knew this was impossible.

It reminds me of those quotes from George Tenet after the US invasion of Iraq failed to uncover WMDs…
