Moslem vs. Muslim

This reality seems to escape people all too often.
This reality seems to escape people all too often.

As the reader has likely noticed, over the last weeks the Daily Stormer has changed the way it spells the word “Muslim/Moslem.”

Though it is left up to the individual writer, I am encouraging people to use “Moslem,” and using it exclusively in my own articles; most of our writers have chosen to join in using the traditional spelling.  I would like to explain why I made this editorial decision on the site, and encourage readers to use this alternate spelling in their own internet posting.

A commenter on the site noted that by using the spelling “Muslim,” we were appeasing the hordes.  I was slightly confused, but did note that it was strange that twenty or so years ago, all publications changed the way to word was spelled.  Googling it up, I found that it was indeed a political decision designed to appease Islamic whiners.

The History News Network gives us the background on the spelling change.

When Baby Boomers were children it was Moslem. The American Heritage Dictionary (1992) noted,”Moslem is the form predominantly preferred in journalism and popular usage. Muslim is preferred by scholars and by English-speaking adherents of Islam.” No more. Now, almost everybody uses Muslim.

According to the Center for Nonproliferation Studies,”Moslem and Muslim are basically two different spellings for the same word.” But the seemingly arbitrary choice of spellings is a sensitive subject for many followers of Islam. Whereas for most English speakers, the two words are synonymous in meaning, the Arabic roots of the two words are very different. A Muslim in Arabic means”one who gives himself to God,” and is by definition, someone who adheres to Islam. By contrast, a Moslem in Arabic means”one who is evil and unjust” when the word is pronounced, as it is in English, Mozlem with a z.

Journalists switched to Muslim from Moslem in recent years under pressure from Islamic groups. But the use of the word Moslem has not entirely ceased. Established institutions which used the older form of the name have been reluctant to change. The American Moslem Foundation is still the American Moslem Foundation (much as the NAACP is still the NAACP–the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People). The journal The Moslem World–published by the Hartford Seminary in Connecticut–is still The Moslem World.

So, the spelling was changed with a plan to change the pronunciation in order to placate Moslems themselves. We still say the word the same as we always have – “Muzz-lim,” but they wish us to pronounced it “Mooz-leem” (sorry guys, I’ve forgotten how to use the IPA).

This is the equivalent of Chinese people demanding we call China “Zhung-wah” or Mexicans demanding we say “Meh-hi-ko,” simply that they might feel more comfortable in our society. The fact that Moslems make such demands of us, while everyone else accepts that we have our own language, demonstrates just what uber-crybabies these people are.

Thus, by continuing to use our own language, we are resisting foreign bullying and defending our rights to exist as a people with our own language.

Spread the Meme

I have already seen commenters on this site and others picking up on this and using the traditional spelling of the word. I have myself started using it in private conversation – it took a while to get used to it, given that since I have been writing the word, it has always been “Muslim.”

I encourage everyone to embrace this traditional spelling, and use it across the internet (and anywhere else). It is a small thing, which will easily spread, and will eventually be covered by the media in a completely ridiculous fashion (ie “Racists Use Obsolete Spelling to Purposefully Hurt Feelings in These Tubes).

We should always be thinking of ways we can shift the narrative through meme exploitation, and this is about as easy as it gets.

Side note: "Allah Snackbar" is an up and coming meme that is already angering the SJWs and their fighting comrades, so consider spreading that meme as well.
